Prenatal Consultation

Your prenatal consultation is scheduled during your pregnancy. We will address all your questions and concerns about nursing your baby including issues you have had with previous children, flat or inverted nipples, surgeries you may have had, and what to expect when baby arrives.  A plan of care with support and resource recommendations are included.

We see all ages of babies - from helping your baby with their first latch, to weaning your baby or toddler. At your consult, there will be an observation of a feeding, assessment of milk transfer, as well as a thorough evaluation and history of you and  your baby.

If you plan on returning to work, we will prepare you with a plan of action with which you are comfortable. This will include setting up and using your breast pump, appropriate milk storage guidelines, paced bottle feeding for caregivers (who may attend the consult if desired), how often to pump and how to mix that with your nursing schedule, and discussing your pumping needs with your employer.
